The Consolidated Appropriations Act was signed in to law on December 29th 2022. The law includes the ‘Pump Act’ which enables nearly all FLSA-covered employees have the right to take needed time and to access an appropriate space to express breast milk for a mother of a nursing child for up to one year after the child’s birth. The federal Break Time for Nursing Mothers law requires employers covered by the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) to provide basic accommodations for breastfeeding mothers at work.
