I bought this book for my animation class and I have found it to be very interesting and informative. It is not hard to read for types who may not like reading. It goes from the history of animation and the history of the computer as it relates to computer use in animation and visual effects, to the different methods of animation. It uses references from many films and video games we are all familiar with. A good book for anyone interested in animation or visual effects.

This book is a very good guide to the industry and whilst you won’t learn animation in depth from a book like this, it’s well worth having a read. It will give you an insight into the different roles that make up an animation team and at least for me made me realise what I wanted to specialise in.

Bought this for my son as a Christmas present as he’s currently enrolled in a 3-D animation program. Perfect gift for him. Book well laid out with many excellent illustrations. Highly recommended for anyone interested in getting into this field.

This book is a fantastic resource that gives a person interested in 3D Animation and effects a total overview of the entire process. It gives a great background of the history of computer animation. It even goes as far as to show how the production process is setup for any level of animation production from beginning to end. It takes away the mystery surrounding how to make an animated film. Although it explains the many methods employeed by the industry today, it’s not devoted to describing how one set of tools work. This book is a must for anyone contemplating entering into 3D animation and effects on any level–including games. Or just someone curiuose to know how this stuff is done. A good read that will provide a headstart for those seriously interested in this diverst art.
